Another twist in my life was becoming a teacher. More specifically an ESL teacher. I have taught in Japan, Korea and Saudi Arabia. I never studied to become a teacher, nor did I think I would be a teacher for nearly fifteen years. It has helped more see parts of the world I never thought I would see and it has given me the opportunity to go on this journey.

My first full-time back packing experience was South East Asia in 2008. This would be my first time travelling alone. I was very nervous and had absolutely no idea what I was doing but I was determined to make it work. Everything was new to me and I could feel my eyes popping out of my head everytime I did or saw something new. I was able to travel for nearly four months and I slowly became more confident. I made a few mistakes and I was sometimes reluctant to put myself out there but I did. I got to visit Malaysia, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. On my way home I was even able to see a little bit of China, Mongolia and Russia while on the Trans-Mongolian Express.

After the death of my father in 2012 and being stuck in a job I had no passion for, I was determined to get back out there and explore the world again. Why South America I have no idea, but from the moment I landed in Buenos Aires I knew I had made the right choice. During this time I was able to visit Argentina, Uruguay, Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru and Chile. I was lucky to meet many inspiring people along the way. People I still think about till this day. During this time I was even able to learn some passable Spanish. Five months later when I left I was determined to come back.

I am not sure when it all started but through the years, whether it was books or YouTube or documentries, I knew one day that I would go on this journey. The route, the countries and the destination kept changing but I finallhy settled on San Diego to Ushuaia. For various reasons, some good and some bad, I knew now was the time to go. I have no idea if I will fail or succeed. I want to find out. March 2024 is when it will begin.
